When I was offered to take pictures of families with children with autism, I did not hesitate for a moment. But then I wondered if my presence would be an insensitive intervention in 'their world'. All of my worries dissapeared at the first photo shoot. Every photo shoot is different, just like every child is different. These kids are extremely sweet and I love to meet their world and story. Some accept me now, some first "check me out" and then I slowly get the opportunity to take pictures in their natural environment. I try to patiently respect their rhythm. I am very happy to please them and their parents by the photos of them. Parents really do not have it easy and even though they are happy and happy with their children, care is still demanding and expensive. I admire the extraordinary skills and uniqueness of these children and I am very glad that they let me into their world :-)
